During the second week of September, St. Cyprian’s usually whips into action and has a fun-filled week to celebrate our birthday! This year was no exception as we turned 108 years old!
Our week began with a service on the 10th of September led by our Young People’s Ministry. The Tuesday thereafter, we hosted a Stukkende Konsert where the women of the church entertained us with a collection of skits – some new, some old but all beloved! They had us stitches as we laughed through their excellent routines, even though they only had two days to practice!
On Wednesday the 13th of September, we celebrated St. Cyprian’s Day where we honour St. Cyprian, the first African bishop-martyr and our patron saint. Our celebrant for the service was Fr. Terrence Rhoda from Church of the Resurrection in Bonteheuwel. Fr. Terrence is a former member of St. Cyprian’s and it was a great experience to have him back with us.
Our week ended with a Country and Western Evening which saw our members dosie-doe-ing across the hall floor while dressed in their cowboy/cowgirl finest.
